Philippine Navy Conducts Two-Day Initial Planning Conference for the 17th Western Pacific Naval Symposium- International Fleet Review 2020

The Philippine Navy (PN) successfully conducted the Initial Planning Conference (IPC) for the 17th Western Pacific Naval Symposium International Fleet Review (WPNS-IFR) last 17-18 September 2019 at the Diamond Hotel, Malate, Manila.
The primary goal of the WPNS is to increase cooperation and ability to operate together, and build trust and confidence between Navies in the Region by providing a framework to enable the discussion of maritime issues of mutual interest, the exchange of information, the practice and demonstration of capabilities, and the exchange of personnel. Functional cooperation in the South China Sea can be pursued through cross-sectoral collaboration in the environmental aspect of the dispute, a less sensitive area which can be a point of convergence among claimants.
